I have been working at Cost Plus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People on here said there is no growth?!?! I started from the bottom and I have had promoted more than three times. Fun atmosphere and you get to learn many different areas in retail. It can be more than just customer service if you push yourself and are willing to work hard to get into a well paying position. You can learn about products, become better with public speaking, pick up extra shifts when people call out sick, and work with a friendly staff. Training depends on how put together the store is, but overall I have had a successful outcome. I like how its not as big of a company and not as big of a store because it makes it feel more special. It is not as cookie cutter as other retailers and you can be creative in situations like merchandising and other problem solving. The pros out weight the cons or why else would I have been working for this company for five plus years.

    Cons

Yes you will be asked to do a lot in a short amount of time. Tell me where that does not happen. You are asked to get a certain amount of sign ups but I really don't think it is that hard. Bed Bath and Beyond has made some seriously crappy changes and they seem like a really cheep company, who only cares how much more money they can reap. They pile on more to do's and policies while not adding more help. Speaking of help forget have a nice break here and there because there is a lack or management coverage. As a manager you will be called to the floor while you try to take one bite of your dinner or try to take a personal phone call. The discount was better before Bed Bath and Beyond.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication, prioritise, and be organized! I have worked its different stores with different management teams. The worst times were when management was not put together, could care less, and wouldn't listen to you. Managers should not have to ring on the register as much as they do because how can you run the floor if you are up front!!!
