I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Leadership is top notch. Time off policies are as to be expected in a company of its size. The leadership is well proportioned and fair. The pay can be a hard sell, especially if you are coming in as an untested candidate, but the pay grows right with you and your skills.

    Cons

The competition within the company is live and you will be tested at every turn. This company has not stayed lean and competitive with other companies by accident. Incompetence is not rewarded and is weeded out. The main product is service and if you're in the field, you are exposed to genuine extremes of weather, heights, electrical hazards, traffic hazards, dangerous dogs, poisonous bugs, angry customers, etc.
Of course, they train very well and tell you how to avoid most of the hazards and are very realistic about the difference between training and the real world; then they give you the timeline that you are expected to operate within. You would have to be there for the last item to have any meaning

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay familiar with the service environment that your field people are operating in. As I said, you are not in your position by accident.
