Former Employee - Head Toddler Teacher in New York, NY

I worked at Cuny Research Foundation (more than 5 years)

The Children's Center of John Jay College (CUNY) was a small, intimate, mostly cheerful place to teach the young children of college students who attended John Jay during the day. I enjoyed knowing whom I was working with, the wonderful directors who supported my creativity with the children and the relaxed, peaceful feeling of the center overall. The Research Foundation was good to this center for many years up until 2013.

The money from the Research Foundation was greatly reduced in my last month as an employee with the Children's Center of John Jay College and I was let go because my salary was considered too high for a toddler teacher with credentials ($41,000). They continued to take funding away from the Children's Center in 2014 ultimately forcing another employee to be let go permanently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember the children for whom I served, what wonderful things I had to offer them as a nurturing, well educated EC teacher. I am dismayed by your looking at the bottom line-which was money! The Children's Center of John Jay College deserves a better look on how it was helping those college students whose children we have served over the years.
