    I worked at Daedalus Books full-time (More than 3 years)


    Daedalus is a very welcoming environment. The manager and supervisors in the call center are always happy to answer questions and explain different procedures, and everything is very organized and well-explained so it's easy to quickly learn the day-to-day tasks. And the customer service reps are all very good at making sure customers are satisfied with their orders. If you love books/music/movies it's a great place to work - you get an awesome discount (on already discounted items), and you are encouraged to review items and talk about them with the staff at meetings. Daedalus serves a very loyal customer base - some have been ordering since the company opened over thirty years ago. Countless customers told me how much they love and appreciate Daedalus during my 3+ years there - and happy customers make your job a lot easier and enjoyable!


    It is a retail job, so you do have to deal with the occasional unhappy customer. A lot of the customers are older, so patience is needed sometimes when speaking with them on the phone (though I wouldn't really consider this a huge con - most of the customers are a pleasure to talk to). Most of your day consists of sitting at a desk and talking on the phone, so if you're someone who doesn't like to sit a lot/needs a lot of variety in your day, it may not be for you.

    Advice to Management

    This was probably the most well-managed place I've ever worked, especially when it comes to customer service/retail jobs, so I don't have any specific advice. The managers are always willing to work with employees if they have scheduling conflicts or need help. They are approachable and know what needs to be done to keep the call center running smoothly.
