I have been working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (more than an year)

    Pros

Commitment to 1:4 nursing ratio( days and nights), often with charge out of assignment and an extra nurse out of assignment on days. Culture of problem solving rather than a blame game. Nice doctors, seriously, no jerks. Supportive management

    Cons

1400$ deductible for a single person, 2400$ for family with NO PRESCRIPTION coverage until the deductible is met. And this area is not lively unless you really like skiing. It is really difficult to find something to do out of the house. More than half my co workers drive 45 min each way, which is very stressful on rural VT/NH winter roads, but they have to so they can live a reasonable distance to their spouse's jobs in the closer cities as there's not much work around here unless you work for the hospital or the college, or a minimum wage type job. It is not unusual for people to live two hours away and rent a room locally to sleep. 4 days at home, 3 days here. Not family friendly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What happened to the health insurance? Come on guys. Also, maybe have hospital provided busses from larger population areas so 12 hr shift workers didn't have to drive 1 hrs each way. Or vastly increase salary so we can afford to buy a 300k+ house on a single income, since the local employment here is not always compatible with an employed spouse and that is roughly the price for an in town house.
