I worked at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good, as you'd expect from a large company, including 401K matching and matching of charitable donations.

    Cons

The company is attempting to go through a transition from being a hardware company to being a software and services company. Unfortunately, that transition has been going on for many years and the end isn't yet in sight.

Layoffs continue and often don't seem to be based on actual success or failure within a business unit. Just lots of across the board cuts.

Upper management seems to understand where they need to get but middle management is still largely stuck in the world as it has been and is not supporting the necessary changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to learn from some of the small, nimble tech companies you have acquired.
