I worked at Dell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Dell had several independent divisions kept largely separate since acquisitions. They each differing style and perks from the corporate headquarters. I worked at one of the many silicon valley acquisitions which (unlike corp) allowed remote, distributed, work-anywhere team members. I worked from home or wherever with less than one trip to SFO each year. Great competitive pay. Very prominent focus on design quality (for this division at least).

    Cons

Within our small division, local management decisions made sense but as corporate began to assert control more, one bad quarter could mean the loss of several good performing colleagues. After Dell went private, this got even worse. After acquisition some great aspects of our product/process were centralized and corporatized resulting in reduced quality.
