I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work-life balance with ability to have flexible hours and work remotely or from home. Ability to have large responsibilities early in your career and make key decisions that are immediately implemented.

    Cons

Must be flexible as things change incredibly quickly including tweaks to strategy, restructuring, and management on a quarterly basis. Changes are often done without transparency and little change management.

While there is plenty of opportunity to change roles and get more responsibility there is very little promotion opportunity. This creates a competitive culture with shortage of resources despite branding the culture as collaborative. Additionally, instead of finding suitable promotion opportunities the company would often allow individuals to leave the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent and honest. Work to find opportunities for and ways to reward top talent so they stay with the company rather than having the mindset that team members can just leave for better opportunities (make Dell the employer of choice or you will eat through your talent pool eventually).
