Former Employee - Policy Adviser in London, England (UK)

I worked at Department of Energy & Climate Change full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really interesting and diverse policy areas to work in.
    Friendly co-workers.
    Usual civil service benefits.
    Excellent line managers.

    Cons

Too many inexperienced colleagues, especially at the policy lead level.
Policy formation often in flux and subject to last minute change.
    Awful building and canteen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate on building up individual knowledge and expertise.
Focus more on long term strategic policy rather than short term media handling.
