I have been with DG over 5 years and have been through the ups and downs that nearly EVERY company faces. This is a company like no other I have worked for in over 18 years in my technical career. I like DG. I like what they are capable of accomplishing and I like what they have achieved since I have been employed here. For me, it is the most unique and challenging work stream I have ever had the opportunity to work in. It is really great honestly to be challenged daily with new ways to fix issues that the users or customers find in addition it provides the right environment to uncover ways to move the business forward. Until I am bored with what DG has provided to me to further my career, I plan on sticking it out here. My results matter to the right people and they recognize that. I am well taken care of here and I can’t see giving that up anytime soon.

Sometimes, management gets in its own way. It happens. It happened at several previous companies I have worked for so I should not expect this work environment to be any different. Being publicly traded poses issues where the market tries to steer what the company does. Sometimes that has great results and sometimes it results in layoffs. Management for my area has changed over the 5+ years of service here and I feel that I am connected with all facets of that management structure. I can ‘vent’ to management. I can approach the VP of the business with confidence and not feel that I will be a potential ‘target’ later down the road. I will admit that there are many areas that a ‘growing too quickly’ company will often encounter and I believe DG is stubbing their toes currently as a result of those growth pains. It is a speed bump. It will pass.

    Advice to Management

Protect the non-mamnagement layers. They are the workers moving you forward, fixing issues and delievering on promises that you sometimes really can't deliever on.
