It's mission & purpose is a noble one. Many highly talented researchers and doctors work there.

There is no system of checks and balances for the CEO. It is a dictatorship. It is the weakness of this could-be-great institute because they do nothing about it. She is a dangerous head case with too much power and uses fear to silence workers into submission. Raised into upper management by the now-deceased founder, she has never had executive experience anywhere else in the real business world. Same with all other upper administration at Doheny. They have all been there 20+ years and she has purposely not allowed any influx of new management thought or experience to come in so that she can't be threatened by anyone who might actually be better then her. It's a tiny and isolated group of people "running" the institute. It was a highly disappointing employment experience because individual accomplishment will never be recognized or cultivated as long as she remains a one-woman show with self serving interests. She micromanaged absolutely every person's job for fear that anyone would get credit for anything except for her. Her actions and attitude affect every single employee there from top to bottom.

    Advice to Management

Replace the current CEO with a real one that comes from the real business world. She is what keeps DEI from being a truly great organization.
