I worked at ELS Language Centers full-time (more than 10 years)Pros
Not much good to say... If you want your, pride, self-respect, self-worth, self-esteem, youth and health taken from you, then I guess this is a good place to workCons
I was relatively young when I started at ELS. After a few years there I had the health of a 75 year old.
This company will work you to death if you let them. They will suck every last bit of energy from you like vampires and then toss you to the side after they are done. Not that they are any different from most other companies in that regard, but they are especially bad about it. Unless you are a young, hot, girl; you probably have no future in this company.
I noticed while I was there that a lot of the people who were promoted were young, pretty girls. If you are a guy they will tell you that you have to have this degree or that degree. Do not believe them, it's really all about being young, pretty and female.
Center Directors and Academic Directors are mostly women. Yes, the people at the very top are mostly men, such as board members, Pres., Vice Pres. etc. but women dominate the administrative positions at the actual centers. This is no accident. The reason, see above.
It's a real "girls' club" environment. If you are a guy they love to gossip and stab you in the back. Make you do all the work then laugh at you behind your back. Of course, not all the women are "in on it." There are some decent people who work for this company, but they never stay. No self-respecting person would stay with this company for too long...Advice to ManagementAdvice
Stop being so sleazy. Hire the person who is best fit for the job and promote for good work and loyalty.Doesn't RecommendNegative Outlook
