I worked at EMC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Industry leader, great technology, bright people.

    Cons

Knee-jerk reactions to Wall Street frowns lead to regular layoffs several times a year. New and aggressive VPs wanting to make a mark drive wholesale change without considering if it will really make everything better, seemingly to "make their mark". Low end of the usual tech perks, like stock awards. Mediocre raises. Abysmal employee communications - delayed merit increases by a quarter one year with NO announcement or discussion! It just didn't happen per their prior timeline!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to impress each other with how big your org is and how ruthless you can be with the restructuring axe! Give a darn about the people who are working their butts off so you can get your next big bonus. Maybe your senior Engineering staff is leaving for a reason!
