    I worked at Earth Fare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Many of the people at Home Office are kind, smart, caring people who really want to see this brand succeed. The pay is pretty good as far as industry standards go, although the gap between Store Manager and the rest of the pivotal leadership is too wide for comfort. Hours are reasonable, rare overnights, most positions sit at forty solid when the trend is to push into higher hourly weeks. Benefits are pretty good as well, although the discount won't allow employees to truly shop there, which is always a bad sign.

    Cons

    The training is almost nonexistent regardless of position, and most new hires ultimate success lies only in the luck of getting a direct supervisor who is ready and able to train. I've seen really well intentioned people leave or get fired because they were trained by incompetent leaders. The amount of work given to specific departments, and especially managers, is unreasonable in forty hours, and over time is subject to disciplinary action. There are serious lack of boundaries between Home Office people, but any perceived lack of professionalism at the store level is swiftly punished. For example, friendships or relationships between department managers are discouraged or prohibited, but District Managers can and have dated and married subordinates. Worst of all, and the reason I left, this company has rotating leadership that constantly changes ideas, policies, and directions. Programs are implemented and abandoned. Ideas are put into effect and reversed. Half baked notions are carried out and when they fail teams in the store are blamed. This company will be acquired by a larger body or they will fade out into their primary North Carolina market.
