I worked at East Valley Dermatology Center full-time (More than a year)
Some nice women work there, but they should probably leave because the management stinks.
No breaks. Pay is always messed up. The management "manages" through rumor and innuendo rather than tracking real metrics. They play favorites and often lie to the owners to get their way. The providers (non-Doctor) are given very low percentages of the overall income generated by them. All the providers (except 2) push only the drugs of their friends and/or the drug company representatives that have bribed them.. or "incentivized" to them. There is a clear "good old girls club" that determines the performance reviews employees receive. The computer systems are horrible and actually impede work getting done. Managers tell one employee to do things one way and another a different way while shifting what they want and expecting everyone to read their minds. Don't ever expect a raise... they will purposefully mark criteria lower on your performance reviews just to avoid giving raises and bonuses. BEWARE of this place.
Advice to Management
Send all supervisors to basic leadership training. Try not to make bonuses a morale destroyer and design a system where they actually improve morale. Value each employee as a human not a number. Invest time and effort in your employees and try to make things easier for them (like upgrading the computers and/or the bandwidth to the online systems). Make billing do the billing. Make the front office actually DO the paperwork. Set Standards and Performance Metrics and publish them to each employee in THE OPEN. Make peer groups all adhere to the same standards. Make the front office stop gossiping about patients with patients in the waiting room! Stop sacrificing your ethics for drug company kickbacks. Stop the double standards. Just because someone is a smoker, they should not get more breaks than non-smokers. Manage your managers. Don't take their word for things because they lie to you if they don't like someone. Take care of your patients better. Find the cancers and take the time to really give them the care they deserve... before it requires MOHS. Have someone else do your paychecks. Your husband is not good at it and makes a ton of mistakes. (anyone working there should double check their pay-stub every single pay period) Get someone that knows Human Resources and how to handle employee issues professionally.. you know, maybe requiring HR to be present. It is not a safe thing for you to have 2 friends disciplining employees because they could easily be putting you at risk.
