    I have been working at East West Bancorp full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -"Bridge" East and West markets at low cost for non-english speaking Chinese.
    Successful in niche market.

    -Standard benefits:
    Medical, eye, dental healthcare. Paid federal holidays. 5 days vacation, more with promotion. 401k, ~$3k company stock collectible a couple years if your are still with the company.

    -Experience:
    Exposure to more responsibilities than a teller.

    Cons

    -No commission:
    No commission no incentive. Incentive through fear, not rewards. ie: CSRs are required to submit referrals for employee quarterly reviews but prospects are not used.

    -Unrealistic goals:
    ie: more than double deposit amount within a year.

    -Unacceptable IT (High Risk) (Much repetitive/redundant manual paperwork):
    Computers freeze frequently, transaction may be unbalanced with no way for reversal other than a documented force balance by accounting. No check scanners and money scanners at each station. Customer's electronic information and signatures are incomplete.

    -No security against criminals:
    no bulletproof glass, no security guards. EWB branch locations have been robbed countless times.

    -HR:
    Understaffed at 2 employees and few assistants to sort rampant office politics.
    They protect the corporation's interests, not yours.

    -Harassment:
    Much blaming, fighting words, favoritism, and distrust.

    -Mediocre training:
    Coworkers do not teach, Branch support is hit or miss, electronic procedures are outdated. Google/investopedia guidelines and government regulations on your own time.

    -Little growth opportunity:
    Rarely promote from within.
