I have been working at Edison Electric Institute full-time

    Pros

Organization has excellent resources and fairly nice office environment. Work can be interesting but only some areas of work will be considered valuable to management. If you are hired in an area that is not sexy, even if you do a great job it is likely you will have no chance to advance (i.e. dead-end). Quality of life with a 35 hour work week with little supervision and a very good benefits package is the sell to non-management level employees.

    Cons

Very little internal cooperation across groups. Supervision and feedback is rare. Few employees seem satisfied with compensation. Many jobs appear dead-end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rarely do people remain happy being paid less than what they can find in government and without clear paths for advancement.
