Love the people working in cubeland. Almost everyone who has a cubicle is friendly, personable, and easy going. There are always some that aren't, but 99% of the people are great. Due to multiple re-org/re alignment initiatives, my management team have no idea what I do, so I don't get micro managed, which is a plus, compared to other member of my team.

Where to start? There is no advancement opportunity within the company. There are some who say you should "own your career", but when you are apply for 5 internal positions in less than 6 months and get zero feedback but see the positions given to someone with less skills, abilities, and peer respect, the perception of favoritism becomes a reality. Companies change all the time, but usually there is a plan or at least an outline that is shared. "Here is where we are, here is where we are going". Around Emdeon, you get "Here is where we are, we are going somewhere, sit down and do your job.". There is NO empathy from upper management. Essentially, they don't care about the plebs down below as long as the Excel spreadsheet shows "green", that is all that matters.

    Advice to Management

My only advice to management is that the one change that needs to be made is to bring people outside the "comfort zone" for management. Don't say you want people's input and opinions, then ignore them when they suggest something better than you. Actually pay people what their worth. Just because they have been with Emdeon and aren't making a high salary, doesn't mean that they won't leave for 2%. I would. I would leave for a cookie and engaged management team.
