I have been working at Energy Curtailment Specialists full-time (more than 3 years)

ECS is a good place for a young, college grad that is looking to get their first real office job. The benefits are very fair, the pay is okay, and ECS is a top player in a growing industry. ECS will be around for many years, but ECS will only get better, grow the way it should, and hit its true potential with new management in place.

Many things to write about, but don't believe everything you read on this site. The company is not always getting sued, we don't refuse to pay people what they are promised, every single manager has been promoted from within, and the former owners (terrible leaders with a great business idea) are long gone. The issue is that all of the "management team" that was left behind after the sale are just plain and simple terrible leaders and they refuse to accept it or even think that for one minute, they are a part of the problem and can improve themselves. They are perfect, they know everything, how to fix everything, yet we have the same issues each week. After a few months of working here, you will become very unmotivated, you will see that 18 out of 19 key managers are male, and you'll see how the part time president only speaks to 3 people when in the office. Many "leaders" hide behind closed doors and are not approachable. They are never proactive with issues, always re-acting. There is no communication across departments and there is no effort to ever improve that. We are a sales company that has huge compliance requirements, but the two leaders of those departments refuse to get along, the president can't fix it, and it is very clear to the whole company that they can't get along.

Until something changes, it will be the same old ECS. A great business idea, plenty of revenue coming in the door, but the way management runs the place, employees will never be fully engaged in their job, they will never be held accountable the way they should, and true professionals will continue leaving ECS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The bar needs to be higher for everyone. When the bar is set low, employees don't achieve much outside of the status quo. The whole management team needs to meet more than once a month or just when something is wrong. We need more diversity. Something needs to be done to get all employees on the same page and going towards the same goals, all as one company. ONE GOAL - ONE COMPANY. Decisions need to be made faster, and in most cases, a decision just needs to be MADE.

My real advice to senior management is simple: look in a mirror and realize, hey I'm not Jesus, I don't have the ability to walk on water and turn water into wine, maybe I can improve some. It all starts with communication, respect, and teamwork...the stupid things that the CEO keeps pushing.
