I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

You'll get everything out of it that you put into it...
Few companies will allow you career advancement and reward your focus...
Everyone above you has been in your shoes...
You are allowed to make adjustments within your branch, city or group to find success...
The top of ERAC is sound, as you work your way to the bottom, things get soggy...

    Cons

-You MUST, MUST, MUST love this job to be successful at it, if not you're going to be lying a lot.
-While moving up you will encounter a lot of management styles and team members that will verbally throw the kitchen sink at you and and still act like ERAC is the greatest company in the world. -Arrogance is like a neck tie at ERAC.
-Customer service goes right out of the window when you are forced to sell protections to look like you care about your job.
-You will get into arguments and create awkward sitations with customers by doing what you are told, even if you know it's creating a bad buzz.
-Fake it till you make it is a mantra for success at ERAC
-The 8 core values are ignored about 90% of the day
-You will never get the time you need to be successful, but some manage to do it which is impressive
-You will be hounded for sales and never given full elaborate ways to do so and not create a situation
-You are challenged to learn and grow on your own time, even though you work close to 50 hrs a week...depending on the size of the branch, but fleet growth is a must so plan on working more hours if you have more than 100 cars in fleet.
-You learn to swallow a lot of crap, you will have a poker face stronger than any other
-While moving up, you might have to be shady more than once, or step on toes.
-You will sell some wolf tickets
-You will be given employees that are only there for a paycheck and don't want a career
-Recruiters will bring people in that shouldn't have been hired, and only know how to interview
-Once again you have to LOVE IT, or LIE a LOT

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to maturely feed your people success, making them feel dumb to make them work harder only works on 10% of Americans. People will continue to quit...ever wonder why the Class A training class has 5-10 people...it's not because the company is growing, it's because people are tired of being annoyed with SALES and they quit. Recruit Salesmen specifically if you want dollar signs to fall into Enterprise...if you want SERVICE, recruit specifically for that. Split the two. You can't have both. It's like your professional NFL running backs, shelf life of 5 years...speed and power don't last together for long. Actually use your 8 core values, and listen to people...your best people are quiting and the stubborn idiots are fighting to the top...that's not Darwinism, it's what Mike Tyson did. Stop being so fake. America is being seasoned with "realist" and being real more and more each day. People can see through the News Reporter tones and the techniques of sales. America knows a salesmen...stop selling!!! If Customer Service is your golden ticket and you expect ESQi to win the hearts of your people. Stop competing with other companies and take care of people. If you keep treating your people like they won't leave...they will. Keep treating customers like ERAC is the best place in town and they can't do better...they will leave. Listen to people.
