    I worked at Exponent

    Pros

    Best and brightest minds - recruited high potential MS and Ph'D's from top engineering schools. You never know what project comes in the door for you to work on. Exposure to a lot of different areas. Decent ESPP, retirement and health plans. The right boss can make or break you. In poor ecoonomic times, people are more litigious so employment more steady here. Each office has its own culture.

    Cons

    Communication from upper mgmt could be better. Some people are managers because they bring in work but manage horribly and do not develop their people. Inside joke is that they train you to be an independent consultant. No work life balance - almost impossible with consulting of this nature. A call comes in and you're on a plane the next day. Show face is prevalant theme - work from home not encouraged which is nuts. Very high turnover. Need more diversity, including women in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Like most companies, some people should not be in those roles - assess. Make some individual contributors instead of managing people. What's the company vision? Bad managers expose co to more lawsutis so move them out of those role.
