    I have been working at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than 3 years)


    A lot of room for advancement. A lot of room for mistakes. Great atmosphere for learning, most positions are not held accountable for actually doing work. Fair amount of freedom to attend to personal affairs during workday.


    I understand that red tape is usually par for the course for larger organizations but it seems that the amount of red tape that exists generally leads to the missing of state & county deadlines, effective contract negotiation and logical workflows. It's as if most programs were thrown together in a matter of days and no improvements were attempted.

    Lower & Middle management have the highest demands and the lowest compensation, comparatively. If you can produce you will be made to produce but you better not have ideas about fixing what's wrong -- chances are someone likes the broken bit because it's making their job easier.

    Many people on this site are right; there is a constant fiscal crisis and little interest in deploying effective long term solutions that actually address the problems: Band-aids preferred.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please learn about your programs and the business you are in. There is a tremendously strong "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" attitude that does not lend itself to the appropriate functioning of a business.

    Health care *IS* a business -- it shouldn't be treated casually while expecting medicaid and the government to come save poor planning.
