    I worked at FactSet full-time

I have made many good friends here at Factset. At a personal level, people are friendly, everybody is laid back. We get a free lunch from Monday to Thursday. Flexible hours for software engineer as long as we can get our work done before a deadline. There are many good in-house software tools to speed up development. I didn't get much pressure from my manager. The pay is average in an exchange of the best work-life-balance. I can call vacation anytime because there is no such a crunch time at this place.

This place can be boring especially for someone who cares their works or want to learn. There are many interesting projects but nobody seems to care to put it together. There is no system to support people who are helping others or develop a new hire. Sadly, there are too many level organization hierarchy and many try too hard to bubble up the chain. Those who plays their games will be noticed but not those who focus too much on their works. As a result, many people learned to do just enough work to keep their jobs. Some were like zombies doing minimum work and waiting for a paycheck or preparing for the next job interview.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When there are engineers who left this place and moved on to Google, Apple, Box and many established startups, it means the management fail to retain those talents. Hiring more newly grad to replace the void does not solve the problem either. A good engineer will be bored and quit eventually.
