Third rate facility. Nurses sat at the nurses station all night on their phones ignoring lights and alarms.

I have been working at Fairfield Medical Center full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I cannot personally think of any great reasons to work here. There are some exceptionally good nurses who aren't appreciated and are passed over, managed by idiots.

    Cons

Management has no consistency in it's policy enforcement. Threatened by people with experience in other healthcare facilities with knowledge and ideas to improve the place. Managers have the level of importance all mixed up. It's the people who work the floors that matter, who work with the patients. They are the most valuable assets..not management and their cronies. The same people over and over in their Monday morning..earning cracker jack awards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a consultant team in there. The Studor Group..they turned around another hospital I worked in that was not quite as backwards as this one. Stop treating your employees like crap. If it weren't for them holding the place together in spite of management's incompetency, there would be no FMC. Ask the employees how to solve a problem instead of making changes based on what management, who hasn't touched a patient in years, thinks. Get rid of your HR people. If they operate on principles that Administration perpetuates, it's worse than I thought. The Board should have direct input from nursing representatives, other than the CNE, who is only there to get recognition for herself. Give employees a real survey, one where they can honestly write what is wrong with their manager or supervisor. You can't change anything when you discourage people from honestly telling you what is wrong. You're losing a lot of business due to your reputation for poor care and for how you treat your employees...check out that ER would you? What a mess...maybe you need a real manager there too. Funny how management is blind to the worst among them.
