    I worked at Farmers Insurance Group FCU full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Learn new skills in field marketing and banking
    Can be a stable job if you are ok with complying w/ management's opinions & can prioritize sales over service, work/life balance, and operational duties

    Cons

    Management vs. employees attitude among upper management
    Middle management not allowed to make own decisions
    Several lawsuits paid out against upper management not affecting their employment
    Big company (Farmers) but Credit Union small and lots of gossip, drama even among managers
    Organization is extremely fire-happy. Does not know how to develop employees rather than quickly replace them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't advertise the benefits of being part of the bigger company if you don't want employees to apply internally. Treat your employees with more respect if you want them to stay. Management needs to be more attentive to employees opinions and ideas for change. The CU is old and outdated & front line employees are frustrated with managements opposition to new ideas. Also agents & Farmers employees have said that they would never want to join a credit union that mistreats its employees. Word gets around quickly especially regarding the many HR complaints.
