I worked at Fce Benefit Administrators full-timePros
The only pros is the casual work attire; you can wear jeans and t-shirts unless a client is visiting. Also, there does not appear to be much overtime although you may be harrassed by an owner or relative constantly asking for their information over all others.
One other plus is the VP of Marketing. He seems to care about positive change and how it affects the employees.Cons
This is a privately owned company with several owners and some family members working there. There are approximately 60-70 employees in the Burlingame office.
I was warned not to work here by a former employee. I chalked it up to a personality difference and decided to work here anyway. It didn't take long to realize the former employee was correct in her assessment. Although the immediate staff members were easy to work with, the constantly hounding by the owners and management to produce their work before anyone else is unbearable. Add to that no training manuals, and the actual training being continually interrupted by a hounding management team ;that hovers around you until you finish their request, and you have a recipe for disaster.
It does appear that there are process protocols in place but I noticed that these protocols are ignored. It is unfortunate as the following of these processes would ensure less employee turnover
Please note: I have never written any company review on any website, however, I felt compelled to "warn" those considering working at F.C.E. Unless you have worked for a small company and enjoy harrassment, STAY AWAY.
In the time I was employed at FCE, I felt a common bond with the department employees...anxiety and stress...as well as a genuine friendship. It is for them that I am writing this review. I hope management reads this and truly understand their worth to the company; that they are not personal admin assistants to the owners and relatives; that they are professional employees.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Open your eyes and ears. Look around at the environment at FCE and really see your employees for who they are; hard-working professionals. Also, take the time to listen to your employees. Once you listen to them, hear what they are saying. Happy employees make for a happy and profitable company.
If you have good protocols/guidelines in place, follow them. If they need tweaking then do so and continue to follow the guidelines.
Above all, stop the "ME" attitude. Results take time. Stop pressuring your staff for constant short turnaround times' and hovering over their shoulders because you want your work first. Realize that an insurance quote requires quality and not quantity because of your impatience.
If management does happen to read this, please don't just read these words; absorb them and consider changing the way you deal with your professional employees. Don't just hire key people. Treat them as the key people your hired and maybe the revolving front door will stop spinning.Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEO
