    I worked at Fedex Express

    Pros

    Satisfaction from serving our customers, and their appreciation. Fairly decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

    Lack of appreciation for tenured employees. Too much negative feedback, very little positive feedback. Unrealistic, "manufactured" goals. GFTP and open door policies are merely procedures in place to give the appearance fairness, when they simply serve as management tools to further management agenda and goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get off the computers and out on the "front lines" and talk to field employees. You cannot successfully run an express package delivery company sitting on your posterior while looking at "manufactured" numbers and stats on a computer screen. It is my opinion that senior management is easily being deceived about operations, or simply doesn't want to hear the "truth". The only hope for Fedex to rermain successful is to remember "to dance with what brung you" (the people). Chasing ambiguous numbers will not be fruitful in the long run. All the fancy planes, trucks, software programs will be of no avail if the people who do the "real" work are constantly being caused to focus on "numbers" and being made to feel inferior due to unrealistic goals. Plain and simple invest the money and time in the people aspect of the company and put the ie's on the road to be truly productive delivering packages.
