I have been working at FibroGen full-time (more than 8 years)

All three core programs come out of original and exciting work done by the company. The anemia platform is ground-breaking and represents an opportunity to reach and help so many people. The fibrosis/cancer program could mean potential treatment for people who currently have no options. This is real science with real potential.

FibroGen is its own worst enemy. The science is great and the CEO is charismatic, innovative, and has the loyalty of a solid core of high performers . However, some people in upper management are not qualified to hold the positions they have. Hopefully, an IPO will be a chance to tighten up an otherwise good team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your top performers, and don't waste company resources and space on those who consistently underperform or don't know how to be professional, especially when this means more work gets dumped on the people who do know how to do their jobs. Try to limit work to standard hours and not expect people to work at all hours and on weekend.
