Your co-workers are your only pro in this job.
There is no such thing as a promotion. You are allowed to apply for a higher paying position when one becomes available, but you have to essentially start over when you do (seniority/tenure). This plays an important role when determining your days off, vacation requests, staying for delayed flights... Your pay/benefits is tied to the federal counterpart, meaning a TSA TSO; however, that is extremely misleading, no, wait, that's a freaking lie. The TSA TSOs all got a 1% increase this past January 2014, while Firstline most likely pocketed that money. We saw none of it. Our medical insurance is a joke and there is only the option of: take it or leave it. The company requires at least 14 days notice for you to schedule a day off in addition to your "regularly" scheduled days off, but is fine with telling you minutes before you clock out that you have to work on one of your days off. Typically, they simply deny a request for a day off anyway, so what's the point in making the request. The hours suck and so does the pay for all the crap they put you through. The starting pay has been the same since January 2010 and people that started in 2008 are ALL making that same wage. So if you are stupid enough to apply after reading this, then you will make the same as someone with 6 years or more of seniority. I am constantly looking for new employment! I wouldn't recommend this job to a mortal enemy.
Advice to Management
The people that run this outfit are MORONS, so there is literally no point in telling them anything. There are at least by my count 6+ people on the payroll that are listed as president/vice president for this company, most of whom I've never heard of. The reason I mention this is if you average what those types of positions make, there is a LOT OF MONEY going to them and very little making it to anyone actually working for the company.
