    I have been working at Fishbowl Marketing full-time (more than a year)


    The company is reinventing and claiming the dominant restaurant marketing platform position it owns. Fishbowl is one of the industry's best kept secrets!!!

    Change has to happen to grow. New management, new positioning, new organizational structure, same vision - and it's winning in the marketplace! Clients LOVE what they are hearing and are signing up for new products and increased marketing services support. We're even winning back clients we have lost previously to our competitors.

    It's tough to pivot an organization - you need to hold yourself accountable for your contribution to change. The same-old/same-old will keep you and the company stagnant, complacent and eventually non-relevant. If you are up for putting your best foot forward and challenging you and your peers to deliver results for clients everyday, and be recognized and rewarded for it both short term and over the long term, then Fishbowl is for you.

    The beauty is the culture of Fishbowl is changing from one of compliance with the powers that be to one of empowerment and accountability. Forced happy hours, team building events and costume parties don't make a culture - sharing, learning, winning and leading allow people to create a genuine, authentic culture. If you want to be part of building and enhancing that kind of culture, it's there for the taking. Step up and lead the organization to the kind of culture you want it to be.


    There are a few old guards - those who think the old way of doing things, or their way is the right way - who have not adapted to the new management team and their way of doing things. Hopefully they come around or they leave the organization as there is unnecessary tension prohibiting expeditious change and/or adoption of the new way of doing things.

    In true transparency, our engineering department is "under construction" which has delayed some product development but this is about to change with a new VP Engineering starting soon and other developers being recruited. Once we ramp up, our clients and the industry won't know what has hit them.

    It truly is an exciting time to be part of a paradigm shift from an email service provider to THE restaurant marketing platform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be sure to engage the less senior folks in what is happening, key client conversations, learning and growing. A vacuum seems to be building and some grumbling about low morale.

    And, diversity to your leadership team will be key to believability that others can achieve that level of success. It seems to be a bit lop-sided at the moment!

    Keep doing what you are doing! Keep driving to change! Change in what we do, how we do it, what we sell, how the industry perceives us, etc. Big success is possible through change! Just make sure you bring others along with you, not just those you brought into the organization.
