I worked at Florida Atlantic University full-time (more than an year)

Being in a university environment, you are surrounded with people who enjoy learning and teaching others. That being said, the job was always exciting, due to the fact that you can really shine as an individual in front of a class, as long as you make sure the students are being safe. TAs are exempt from paying Social Security and have their portion contributed to TIAA Cref, which is a nice savings perk. However, unless you are a student there, you do not get health benefits. I never found the job to be so stressful that I couldn't maintain my own sanity outside of the workplace.

There is very little room for advancement, unless you are seeking an advanced degree. Being a TA if exceptionally beneficial if you are looking to advance in a Masters or PhD program, as the school offers stipends and tuition reimbursement (as do most schools if you are seeking a PhD in a scientific field).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training could be a bit more hands on. Sometimes it was assumed that the prospective TA would know exactly HOW to teach or make chemicals, whereas not everyone is a naturally born teacher.
