    I worked at Fortinet full-time for more than 3 years


    Free Dinner if you work one hour of unpaid overtime. Dinner costs around $10, so you are essentially working an extra hour for minimum wage.

    Great place if you speak Mandarin, or if you know how to play politics.

    People who get hired into their roles are generally qualified. Unfortunately, those who get promoted are usually not.


    Poor decision making from management - everything from technical decisions, to team building, to communication across and within teams. People design their own modules without regard for how it inter-operates with others.

    Occasionally, team leads and/or managers "design" architecture even though they are unqualified, and do not ask for input from people under them.

    No accountability for management; they can make many mistakes, leave work early, get to work late.

    If you drive there, expect to park outside and get your car bombarded by crow droppings. Almost forces you to leave work early. Indoor parking is limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hold management more accountable. Value career development and input from employees.

    Hire university grads from quality universities. Many of the current employees are university graduates from China or BCIT (local community college) graduates who are not well-rounded and too narrow in their thinking.

    Needs a better process for promotion. Bad managers promote more bad managers.
