Great place to build a good base of management tools but at some point the growing bureaucracy will become stifling.

Good reputation, well respected in the business community, great training opportunities, relatively stable, generally sound & conservative management decisions - especially with regard to risk management.

Slow to adapt new technology (especially e-capabilities), increasingly bureaucratic and layered, somewhat stifling. A bit too wedded to the past and not especially nimble as an organization. For early career employees (5-10 yrs), management and leadership opportunities have been slow to materialize.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to get back to moving managers around more often within Capital and other parts of GE. Need to get back to a sense of urgency...need to shake things up and provide a constant stream of cross-pollination of ideas. There seems to be some complacency at the mid-levels of management. At the highest levels, management tends to make the right decision although often late. With regard to acquisitions we've often acquired at peak valuations and with divestitures we've often held assets too long - as if they had sentimental value.
