I have been working at GameStop full-time (More than a year)
-Employee Discount -Pleasant Atmosphere Working with the company for close to a year now I'm proud to finally say I've been promoted to an SGA. I've wanted to work my way up in the company and move up the ladder for a long time so I must say it feels really rewarding and satisfying to finally achieve that. My best advice for anyone is that this job is not going to be for everyone. It's what you make of it. If you have a passion for gaming it definitely helps. Being able to be surrounded by both coworkers and gusts who share the love of the industry and what you do is rewarding in itself. You wont always have great days and sometimes things can be unbearable. But in the end it's worth it. I've had the honor and privilege of working with some of the best people I've ever met. My coworkers were always there to support me and help me along the way. They helped me grow and really improve myself in a personal and professional way. Don't believe all the hatred and lies surrounding Gamestop because truthfully it's not as bad as people make it out to be. At the end of the day we're a family, we take care of each other and we make new experiences. Sometimes things don't always go as planned but we make do because we have to. I've had to say goodbye to some people I've grown quite fondly to. But those relationships will stay with you. Most likely you will be moved to a different store at some point in time it's inevitable but it's a part of moving up the ladder and getting new experiences. In summary I guess I would really say I've had no bad experiences with the company. I've been fortunate to have a great staff behind me and I've made a lot of friends. I learned more about myself and my skills in the short time I've been there. I'll be starting as an SGA in the coming weeks and I couldn't be happier. I'd like to just thank Gamestop for all they've done for me. I wish anyone who applies the best of luck and I hope your experiences are just as good if not better than my own. Thank you anyone who takes the time to read this.
sometimes you aren't always recognized for the work that you do. They will give you the tools to succeed but wont always give you the means to do so. If you work hard and you're determined eventually someone is going to notice and you will be recognized for it. For some people the hours can be a deal breaker. Early on you may not get that many or during holiday you've got to work long and hard hours in the heart of all of the madness. But it's all got it's fun to it.
Advice to Management
My advice is to let management know that they should show appreciation to their staff more often. Not just the higher ups and store managers. We function together as a team because of all of the work each of us puts in. We are nothing without the other. So my best advice is not to take the little guys for granted. We all start off somewhere and we work hard to move up show we have a passion for what we do. So I think really all I want is to feel like we're appreciated and thanked a little more even for the small things.
