    I have been working at GameStop full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    The company has been transitioning for the last 5 years in a positive direction. It's no longer a place just for gamers to work. It's a business opportunity, and yes, if you enjoy games, it's one less thing you have to educate yourself on. This company is focused on developing talent pools from within and prefers to internally promote.

    Cons

    In store level position the main challenge is keeping the drive to consistently train and develop the sales associates. The sales associates pay is minimum wage and typically is college or high school students and which typically don't understand the basic business concepts or are eager to learn. As a leader, you have to constantly be out recruiting to find the right talent and avoid waiting for walk in applicants because more often than not you only get young adults that apply because they love games.
