I worked at Garfield Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

9-5 workdays for the most part. Decent place to get a bit of experience. Great creative team and in-house dev team with friendly people. Small agency environment, so you'll know everyone's name. They'll tell you what you want to hear to keep you 'happy'.

    Cons

This place is extremely dysfunctional and suffers from ridiculous turnover. Cannot keep the same employee base for more than 5-6 months. Issues stem from management not recognizing when they have talent, and having no idea how to keep said talent happy. They do not recognize issues until it's already too late, and even then will not make moves to fix them if the costs involved are too high. If you're looking to work here, prepare to absorb your co-workers responsibilities after they leave and not get compensated/recognized for it. These responsibilities are now a part of your role.

Understaffed and cannot handle the amount of work that's in the agency at any given time. Will not make hires in the departments they're slim in because it's all about the bottom-line for them. Garfield Group will do absolutely anything to keep their clients happy, which means giving in to any demands they may have. Still not working, and the agency is 1-2 clients away from being in deep trouble.

Only pay attention to their "Senior" management, which is made up of their newest 'new hire' that they will flaunt around until they get sick and move on. Any mid-level employees are used and discarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take off the blinders and recognize that your core team is what makes your agency. Even up the playing field for the rest of your employees, they make a difference. Get some common business sense and learn how to manage properly.
