Important work. Genuinely nice people (outside of "program office" and Human Resources, which is loaded with untrustworthy, full-of-themselves types). Incredibly great pay.

Forces employees to clock out (even salaried employees) for a 30 minute lunch everyday, which can't even be legal. Does nothing about the multitude of new hires and union employees who have to walk far in the cold and rain and dangerous-after-dark situation because they didn't enlarge the parking garage when they had the opportunity upon buying the New London facility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Upper Mgmt: Smart to change the vacation policy or more would have fled. 2. Eliminate the forced lunch policy and instead have Supervisors do their jobs to ensure employees aren't taking a lunch without clocking out. This does not mean employees who eat while they are working, it means employees who take time to prepare their lunch in the kitchen or go to the cafeteria without clocking out. Let people clock out for however much time they need to eat...5 minutes, 10 minutes, 45 minutes...Put in a few turnstiles and have passive rfid clock people out when they enter the cafeteria and they can clock back in at their work site if you have to. People have commitments outside of work (doesn't matter why) and already are suffering from the parking issue and lack of personal time issue. You do not have the right (legal or otherwise) to ask people to forfeit 2+ hours of their lives each week for NO business benefit and NO valid reason. This policy does not help EB or the employees. 3. Parking: Have a couple of small vans drive around the neighborhood during work-start and work-end times to shuttle people to their cars in bad weather or darkness. This SMALL COST to EB will show that you are concerned about your fellow human beings that YOU have put in a dangerous situation. Don't wait til the first random crime by local crackheads against one of your helpless employees while they walk to their car at night because they are making up time for the forced lunches and it's dark outside. The police are not patrolling the area because you have created a bad relationship with the city management by not paying adequate taxes for that BEAUTIFUL New London facility. 4. Clean up the mess caused by the nepotism of HR. Create some checks and balances to fix this problem.
