I have been working at Georgia State University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have worked in three different places at Georgia State and at each place I enjoyed my co-workers and felt like I was in a mostly positive environment. The work wasn't too challenging in either location. I think that particularly in office settings GSU makes an effort to make people feel like a work family. They always have lots going on around the holidays and birthdays may be celebrated too.

    Cons

Student Assistants are paid very poorly. I've been searching for a new job doing what I currently do and there are companies paying way more for the same skills. No benefits (but I didn't expect any). No real room to grow or to get raises as a SA. Some micro-management (not much, but some). Every department is going to have one person that always has a negative attitude and wants to spread it around to others and they just so happen to be management so there is nothing you can do about it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I love Georgia State and think it's a great place to work. My only advice would be to enforce rules (like no nepotism) more.
