I worked at Gibson Guitar full-time (More than 5 years)
The family is great; lots of love and potential. Great brand and instruments. Interesting travel opportunities in some roles.
CEO has his fingers in absolutely everything, for example every single person that gets hired (down to janitor) must be personally approved by CEO. Took me over 4 months from time of final interview to actually being called back to work because he had to sign off on me. There is an infinite amount of potential at Gibson, so many smart and dedicated workers, and they are constantly belittled and second guessed. There is virtually no upward mobility here, in terms of moving up the corporate ladder. Raises come in 3-5+ year increments and even then are insignificant. Expenditure policies are outrageously outdated. For example, the travel policy has not been updated since the 90s.
Advice to Management
CEO has a great mind and great ideas, but needs to take a step or two back from the daily operation of the brand.
