I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (more than 3 years)

Thus far Gilead is a really good company with a great pipeline compared to other pharma companies out there. They have good benefits and the cafeteria is really good. You have to get in a good department to be extremely happy

Their biggest issue is they are very reluctant to change. The executives don't understand its not the same company back in the nineties and the early days of pharma. You will find many of the VPs have grown up at Gilead and just want to keep the status quo, and form a pack mentality if an external candidate wants to implement change for the good of the company. There is a lot of turf war at the VP level limiting direct reports from doing their jobs. I wish a consultant can just come in say No No No you cant run this way anymore and you need to revamp your organization. This will only happen if the top Executives leave. The work life balance is just crazy to do the job of three people will eventually burn out your employees. They also have a very weak IT structure meaning reporting is non existent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Welcome Change I know you don't want to be like big pharma but you will face big pharma problems. Ask yourselves are you really prepared and if not look at the infrastructure of the company and allow folks that want to implement change to do so.

    Positive Outlook
