I have been working at GlobalGiving as an internPros
GlobalGiving is a great place to intern for the summer! During the internship, I had the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that had a tangible impact on the organization. The work environment is truly wonderful and very supportive. There is a strong innovative and "can-do" culture, which is very inspiring. Moreover, GlobalGiving's employees are very friendly and are simply a pleasure to be around. It is also great to see that GlobalGiving is genuinely concerned with the professional development of its interns. Managers often offer one-on-one meetings to discuss professional development goals for the internship. There is also an opportunity to learn more about your work style by taking a free DISC personal assessment that GlobalGiving offers to its interns.Cons
There are very few cons to this internship! The most significant one is the lack of financial compensation as the internship is unpaid (though this is common in the nonprofit sector). There is a small travel stipend, but it does not fully offset the costs one is likely to incur during the entire period.Advice to ManagementAdvice
The overall internship experience is wonderful and my main advice to management would be to keep up the good work! It would also be helpful if GlobalGiving could offer additional opportunities to learn more about the nonprofit sector and international development through talks and brown-bag events. There are already very knowledgeable and fascinating people working at the organization and it would be great to hear more about their perspectives on these topics.
