I worked at Globe Pequot full-time (more than 8 years)

Globe Pequot Press, which owns Lyons Press, GPP, Falcon Guides, Two Dot, is made up of a very good bunch of people who oversee lots of talent and great brands. People worked hard and created great books, but in addition to uncertain management, sales was always a problem.

Under Morris Communications, management was weak and indecisive. With new owners, Rowman & Littlefield, management seems a bit overbearing and demanding. Everybody, from the lowest level to the managers feel burdened with rigid new procedures and lots of paperwork. Hopefully a livable balance will develop between the procedures and rules R&L has developed as owners of many tiny publishing companies and what needs to happen with this largest-by-far of their acquisitions, which won't necessarily flourish under rules created for companies of one or two people.
