I worked at Gordon Trucking full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The folks on the phones do their best to be supportive of drivers and each other. The front line supervisors care about the employees and try to do their best. The safest US fleet on the road thanks to the hard work of the Safety and Maintenance directors.

    Cons

Front line supervisors are thrown into the fire and expected to immediately succeed. Upper managers do not support them, and owners are focused on Safety and driver retention, which is important, but loose a great deal of money each year by not paying attention to their driver managers and front line supervisors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Every time someone besides a driver leaves, do you have any idea how much that costs you? If you put forth a minimum effort on behalf of the driver managers, you would have much less turnover. At the end of 2011, half of your staff and supervisors had their resumes polished and were looking.
