  • I lived and breathed H&M for the better part of a decade and it was pushed out like I had been there for a week.

    I worked at H&M full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, compensation, many chances to travel and develop yourself. In my early years I learned so much about my management style merchandising and being an effective leader and business owner!

    Cons

The district level management is catty hand-picked like a sorority and they have their favorites and don't like people who speak up. They covertly set you up for failure. There is unrealistic expectations with very very limited hours given they talk about being efficient but you can't run a store with the amount of hours they give you even though this company is exceeding billions of dollars in profits it does not reinvested in to the weekly operations of their stores.

    Advice to Management

Upper management really needs to go back and look at why H&M was so successful when they really followed the Swedish business model because that's what H&M was thriving and really a unique and wonderful place to work. The district managers in the New England area destroyed that culture by setting their managers up for failure and playing favorites.
