    I have been working at HCR ManorCare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Excellent training, and every policy or procedure you would need is already done for you. Amazing corporate safety program, and Circle of Care for staff appreciation. Corporate staff are just a phone call away, and once you know who to talk to, everyone is glad to help when they are needed. You also have hundreds of peers nationwide, and they are also happy to help and share ideas.

    Cons

    Pay was SO below market that is wasn't even competitive. When I left to work for a competitor, I got a 20% pay increase. ManorCare also is notorious about working employees to death, especially exempt staff. It was assumed that all managers would learn how to handle an admission, and that we would all work a weekend day each month. HR was also not eligible for the bonus plan (only Administrators, Marketing, and BOM) which I though wasn't right. Some Administrators were tyrants and treated the line staff like servants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    HR needs to be added to bonus plan! If the company would pay better, the turnover wouldn't be so high!
