I worked at Halliburton full-time (More than a year)

Great benefits! Insurance, retirement, employee stock purchase plan. Experience looks good on a resume.

Had to work 48 hours on location with no sleep as an engineer. Had to lift heavy iron with crews that are paid $120,000+ /yr while I'm making $65,000 /yr + $1,500 bonus/month. Not fair when I have $80,000 in college loans and most of them only have high school diplomas. I liked most of the people I worked with but their were a few bad apples that sat around and talked and played computer games while I was working my but off in the office. On call 10 days on 4 days off. No time for fun, will spend first two days off catching up on sleep. You're just a number. They will work you to death, give you a great yearly review, and then lay you off when the price of oil takes a dive, eventhough our camp still serviced tons of rigs and had a better safety record then the camp they kept open but gave all our work to.

    Advice to Management

Lay the people off that have cost the company money by cementing up casings and put 26,000 foot posts in the ground not the ones who work harder and have never cemented up a well.
