Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, IL

I worked at Havas Media full-time (more than a year)

    - Great time off and benefits
    - Several teams of really great people
    - Good place to start off your career (but not beyond that)
    - Overall good work/life balance
    - Great office location (space is being beautifully renovated in the next year)

    - Awful management and leadership. The people that are most senior are disrespectful, poor managers, do not value their employees, are ineffective communicators/managers
    - The Chicago office overall is shaky. They didn't win much new business in the year and a half time I was there. 15-20 people left over the course of less than a year due to poor management and inability to advance even after being there for long periods of time.
    - This is not a place to grow your career. If you're looking for an entry level position, it's a great place to gain experience, get a taste for media agency life, and get your foot in the door, but do not stay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training needs to be set up for managers here. Yes, these individuals are great at their JOBS, but there is more to a good employee/manager than completing responsibilities to clients. Communication, respect, motivating your employees and making your employees feel valued - they are the future of the industry and shouldn't be degraded and disrespected just because they do not have a senior title. I left because there is no room for growth here, and even then, I wouldn't want to grow at a company that does not value things like communication and respect. Connect the dots - culture plays a bigger role in the success of agency than you may think.
