Incredible mission of providing a place of safety for people who have lost everything. The employees are very helpful and caring, and the management wants to do well to create a good working environment. Bottom line is this organization cares and helps thousands of homeless people each year.

It's non profit so the pay isn't great, but most people work there because of the mission anyway. The organization has only been open for a little over two years, so management is still learning how to operate this 37 acre, 15 building, first of it's kind transformational homeless shelter. There's a lot of pieces to manage, including 70+ partners who operate on the campus. The management doesn't communicate well with the employees so the employees over react and make up what they think is the truth, and it's usually the worst thing they can think of. Very childish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate. Stop worrying so much about people besmirching the organizations name and just be transparent with your employees. There's too many closed door sessions between two or three senior leaders who seem to run everything without asking anyone else's opinion. Keep the CEO, dump all the VPs, and tell the employees to speak up if they have a problem.

    Positive Outlook
