Current Employee - Patient Care  in  Maplewood, MN
Current Employee - Patient Care in Maplewood, MN

I have been working at HealthEast Care System part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Working at St. John's Hospital, it is a convenient location and the parking is free. There are some great people that truly care about the patient experience. Insurance benefits for a single person are very affordable. My manager has given me a few technical increases in pay besides my normal yearly raise.

    Cons

Seems like were always short staffed, lots of ill calls or even no shows that management does nothing about, mandatory overtime (they don't care if you have to pick your kid up, the work-life balance is non-existant, yearly raise is small, they are cutting housekeeping like crazy & I don't think the hospital is clean like a hospital should be, often no breaks or lunch or even time to use the restroom. Recent epic (EHR) implementation proved managements poor decision making and lack of organization. The culture there is nose diving big time, employees are not happy and I've seen huge turnaround the 3 years I've been there. I'm wondering if healtheast will exist in 5 years? Or will allina, fairview, or healthpartners take over? That could be a good thing if you don't lose your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you really want to save money; keep current employees happy! It costs companies more to hire and train new people all the time. I've seen so many people go through a huge training period and leave as soon as their done! That's months of wasted money!
