I worked at Hennepin County Medical Center

    Pros

    Still has good benefit package.
Can feel you are doing Important work in community.
Nationally recognized hospital, can be proud of workplace.

    Cons

Extreme budget shortfall--constant reductions of staff and increase of work pressure and responsibilities for remaining staff.
Unstable management--frequent changes of management people and of goal focus as hospital separates from County management.
Poor moral in almost all departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most employees take pride in their jobs and are aware of extreme budget pressures. But they can not be stretched beyond a certain point--many departments are already running only by allowing massive overtime and running employees at burn-out level.
